A FOLDING ERGOMETER DEVICE TO ASSESS THE NEUROMECHANIC PROPERTIES OF CHILDREN'S ANKLES:
INTODUCTION:
In order to measure the children in thier usual environnemnt, the present study was to concieve a light ergometer device, adapted to children ankle testings and easy to fold up in order to minimeze its size and weight to transport in a small car.
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
The ergometer device is composed of injustable seat (28Kg) and an adjustable rotaional footplate (11Kg).We have just to remove the footplate then we can fold it up easily.
It is compliant to the children:
-high 1.2m to 1.8m
-Joint angles: 110° for the Knee and 90° for the ankle
-Maximale force: 500N
It is equipped by:
-S-type load cell (500N,sensibility 2mV/V/F.S)
-An optical absolute encoder (angular displacement measure)
-A holding electromagnet(maximal force 790N)
Possible measurements (right or left ankle):
-Isometric force
-Musculotendinous stiffness (Quick-release test)
-Range of motion (ROM)
-Passive joint stifness (Manual pseudo isokinetic movement)
-Reflex excitability (With an optional smal hammer)
This folding ergometer is an ambulatory device for neuromechanical measurements. It can be useful to evaluate muscle function in children and muscular changes after a period of rehabilitaion or training. |
